Fat Gitl : Two sisters confront their sexual attitudes and experiences while on a family holiday. The bond between the sisters is portrayed very well, the girls and the life they live are very recognizable. A Ma Soeur! Elena is fifteen, stunning and coquettish. Her less assured sister, Anais, is 12, and perpetually grub. Their actions, however, have unforeseen tragic consequences for the complete family.
FILM FESTIVAL REVIEW; Adolescent Fantasies, Rough Real Life
And it provides a disturbing reminder that children's inner lives are as complicated and their fantasies often as raw as those of adults. But as the movie digs into their relationship, it shows that their mutual hatred coincides with a powerful love and a mutual understanding deep enough to allow both sisters to talk honestly about their bond and their ambivalence. At least they're lies from Elena's socialized view that the words ''I love you'' mean not just now but years into the future.
Vibe: The world is a shitty, gruesome place filled with shitty, gruesome people. The loss of virginity isn't a magical, special act that happens between two people who love each other. It's often awkward, manipulative, and emotionally fraught. It's culturally emphasized to the point where it's impossible to engage in any sexual act naturally, without thinking of all the societal and psychological implications especially for women.
