Job responsibilities of a farm hand include feeding and watering livestock, cleaning out pens and facilities, providing fresh hay and straw, helping to move animals around the farm, helping with the maintenance of farm structures and equipment, planting crops, preparing the soil, spraying the crops to eliminate diseases and pests, examining animals and crops, and helping with the production of farm product through milking cows, shearing sheep etc. A high school diploma is required to be a farm hand. Helpful job skills include active listening, ability to work without supervision, good critical thinking skills, knowledge of farming, good communication skills, and ability to problem-solve.
