Midget hockey scouting

Mark Edwards came up with the idea for HockeyProspect. The goal of HockeyProspect. Wayne Simmonds was one of those players. The aim was to give players some exposure and hopefully a chance to reach their goals to play at higher levels.

In modern hockey, high-end prospects such as Connor McDavid are used to having millions of eyeballs tracking their every move. In addition, there are tons of fancy new statistics Corsi, Fenwick, etc. Sure, the old-fashioned eyeball test was the norm. However "Advanced Statistics" also known as "Analytics" were strictly in the "Back to the Future" file in those days. Still, when scouting a young lad named Bobby Orr, the eyes didn't lie and there were also a set of numbers admittedly very basic to feast your peepers on to underline that what you were seeing was really true.

Rather, players need to play to their strengths and be a 5 out of 5 in their strongest categories. Every player is unique. Intangible attributes are often the ones that can prolong a career or open up new opportunities for a player.

What you think it takes to make it to the big leagues and what it actually takes are two different things. They also look at the little details that no one else pays attention to. Focusing on these little details each time you step out onto the ice will make a difference. I got drafted because I did the little details better than the others. This is arguably the most important detail on the list.
