Dozens of women stood outside the Palms on Santa Monica Boulevard, hugging old friends and escaping from the heat inside the crowded bar. They congratulated one couple on their recent engagement then cheered as an older woman pulled up on a loud motorcycle. Gay men have always well outnumbered lesbians in West Hollywood, but until recently, the city managed to maintain a small but vibrant lesbian social scene. It shut down not long after that. When the Palms closes its doors later this week, the city will lose its last dedicated lesbian gathering space.
There is a certain charm about a place as honest about itself as The Merc, and you have to appreciate it for what it is. If you are looking for a place to get hammered, this is it. The drinks are strong and cheap. If you want to have a conversation, it's way to loud. If you want to dance, to bad, they don't do that here. If you want to avoind lung cancer, forget it, it is full of smoke blowing in from the back porch.

Sunday Funday Great Sunday hangout. Can't beat prices and decent pours. Retro vids mixed in with some current stuff. In my opinion was a decent mid of men and women and bartender seemed more interested and willing to serve those she knew at the bar while I waited about 15 minutes.
