In the Dayton area, an active support group for transgender, non-conforming, non-binary and allies is the Gatlyn Dame Group. The group gathers for discussion once per month and schedules a monthly social event, as well. Attendance for the discussion gathering may average 25 or so persons of various identities, backgrounds, and ages. Parents of non-conforming kids, medical professionals, lgbt activists and others are countered as allies that are active participants. Social events are intended to be family-friendly and have included picnics, a trip to the Air Force Museum, and visits to different restaurants.

By no means is this an expected list of LGBT-friendly cities. How did the voting work? The cities were given points in six possible categories, including trans-inclusivity, the number of pro-equality mosques and LGBT-friendly synagogues, and if tours of Wicked , The Book of Mormon , and Kinky Boots were playing, among a couple others. The points were then divided by the population to provide a ranking based on a per capita LGBT quotient.
